College of DuPage Officials, Full-Time Faculty Association Agree to New Four-Year Contract
Following more than six months of negotiating in good faith, College of DuPage officials and the College of DuPage Full-time Faculty Association (CODFA) representatives reached consensus on a new four-year labor agreement.
“We are very pleased with the outcome of the negotiations,” said President Dr. Brian Caputo. “The new contract will be good for students, faculty and the institution as a whole. It gives the capacity to elevate the College to the next level. I would like to thank the negotiating teams on both sides for their work.”
Pending final approval by CODFA and ratification by the College’s Board of Trustees, the new contract, which runs through May 2023, includes more defined teaching duties as well as an evaluation process that promotes professional development and in-classroom observations.

“The professional development of our full-time faculty members will aid in targeting high-quality delivery of instruction, which directly impacts the students we serve,” said Dr. Caputo.
New contract terms also call for faculty members to provide periodic updates to grades via the College’s automated learning management system, giving students a better understanding of their academic progress.

Additionally, the contract includes inflationary increases of 2.4 percent during the first year of the contract, 2.3 percent the second year and 2.0 percent the last two years. This is in addition to annual step increases within each of five salary ranges.
“This compensation package further underscores our commitment to our valued full-time faculty members who are among the highest paid throughout the country,” said Board of Trustees Chairman Frank Napolitano. “We also believe this agreement will help the College’s efforts to attract and retain highly-qualified educators our students and community have come to expect.”
“Our goal throughout the negotiations was to give our faculty a fair contract that balanced CODFA’s needs with those of our students and community members,” he said. “We’ve accomplished that, finding common ground in a document that balances the needs of the College and its faculty. The settlement of the contract permits our students and staff to now put their full focus on their success here at College of DuPage.”
