COD Partners with Easterseals for 19th Annual Photo Exhibit

Celebrating an ongoing collaboration with Easterseals DuPage & Fox Valley, College of DuPage will host the 19th annual Photography Exhibition on Wednesday, Oct. 17, at 6:30 p.m. at the McAninch Arts Center on the College’s Glen Ellyn campus. A presentation featuring representatives from Easterseals is set for 7 p.m.

The exhibition will highlight work from Visual Storytelling students in COD’s Photography program. The students were paired with clients from Easterseals and photographed the daily lives of their families to document the challenges and accomplishments of children with different disabilities. Students then created photo essays with their still images.

Following the reception, the images will be on display in the lobby at Easterseals, a nonprofit organization that services children with special needs. View photos from last year’s event.

COD Photography professor and program coordinator Terry Vitacco expressed the value she sees in the partnership.

“I think the most important thing my students learn by doing the Easterseals project is that their photography really makes a difference,” she said. “The families that see the photos hanging in the Easterseals lobby are encouraged and heartened that their child can enjoy life despite their challenges.”
