On April 12, delegates from the College of DuPage Student Leadership Council joined students from colleges and universities across the state for Student Advocacy Day in Springfield, Ill., an annual event sponsored by the Illinois Community College Board’s Student Advisory Committee.

SLC delegates met with leading members of the House of Representatives and the Senate to advocate for MAP Grant funding and to garner support for HB5746—a bill that would force each public or private higher education institution to require all entering freshman to receive training aimed at increasing the awareness and prevention of sexual violence and hate crimes.
