College of DuPage Board Approves $2 Tuition Increase for Fall 2022
College of DuPage Board Approves $2 Tuition Increase for Fall 2022 Rate Remains Among Most Affordable in Illinois

Maintaining a strong focus on student success balanced with consideration of budget demands, the College of DuPage Board of Trustees authorized a $2 (1.4 percent) tuition increase for the 2022-2023 academic year during a special March 31 meeting.
Tuition and fees will be $140 per credit hour for in-district residents, $327 for out-of-district students and $397 for out-of-state students, beginning with the fall 2022 semester.
The College previously held tuition level due to the ongoing pandemic and economic struggles permeating through the district, county and state. While the approach was appropriate at the time, College of DuPage President Dr. Brian Caputo said it is not sustainable moving forward.

“Looking ahead, we must ensure that we have the funds to support the success of our students, cover ongoing operating costs, and provide resources for ongoing technology initiatives,” he said. “This moderate increase ensures we have the power to provide the resources students expect from College of DuPage, while keeping us among the most affordable in the state.”
Dr. Caputo said the College’s increase is in line with those at other institutions, pointing out that several of the state’s 39 community colleges are expected to raise tuition from $3 to $10 per credit hour.

COD Board Chairman Maureen Dunne stressed the College’s reputation as a strong financial steward.
“For several years, the College was able to hold steady on tuition increases due in large part to the administration’s strong financial planning. As we navigate through what we hope is the end of the pandemic and monitor enrollment trends, we must look to the future of College of DuPage,” she said. “Having the resources needed for new innovation, student support and other academic initiatives, ensures our continued ability to provide quality instruction and resources to future students.”
The tuition increase comes as College leaders plan COD’s FY23 budget. The document will be completed over the next several weeks and is expected to be made public in May. The Board will hold a public hearing before voting on the final budget in June, with FY23 beginning July 1, 2022.
