College of DuPage Board of Trustees Approves FY 2020 Budget
The College of DuPage Board of Trustees approved the Fiscal Year 2020 budget at its regular meeting on Thursday, June 20, following a scheduled public hearing.
The $349.6 million expenditure budget for the fiscal year, which begins July 1, 2019, and ends June 30, 2020, focuses heavily on the institutional priority of student success and includes funding for several highly significant initiatives to provide increased support and resources for COD students. Highlights include:
- Continued work to implement the Guided Pathways student success model, an integrated, institution-wide approach to student success that guides each student effectively from point of entry to the attainment of individually stated goals and objectives.
- Further development of the College’s Center for Student Success, which houses resources designed to strategically monitor student progress.
- Reconfiguration of space in the Berg Instructional Center to create a STEM pilot classroom featuring advanced instructional technology.
- Support for Project Hire-Ed, the College’s new apprenticeship program that aims to address what business leaders believe is absent in the skills set of some recent high school graduates and what is missing from the workforce.

“A great deal of work goes into crafting this document each year and our finance team does an excellent job evaluating priorities and balancing our resources,” said Board Chairman Frank Napolitano. “I appreciate all the hours that went into crafting this document and want to thank the budget committee, led by Board Secretary Daniel Markwell, for its diligence.”
The College’s annual budget is the culmination of six months of work, during which input is solicited from the college community and institutional needs are identified, prioritized and resourced. Budget Committee members meet regularly throughout the process, working with Budget Manager Bob Hayley and the budget and finance team to finalize the document, said Secretary Markwell.
