College of DuPage Commemorates 18th Anniversary of 9/11 Attacks

Remembering the thousands of lives lost and the indelible impression the 2001 Sept. 11 terrorist attacks left upon American history, members of the College of DuPage community, including College officials, members of the COD Police Department and cadets from the Suburban Law Enforcement Academy gathered Wednesday to observe a moment of silence at the Robert J. Miller Homeland Security Education Center, which houses a beam from the World Trade Center.

College of DuPage is one of only a few educational institutions nationwide selected to receive a relic from the Twin Towers following 9/11. Weighing in at more than 1,000 pounds and measuring 27” by 127”, the ceiling beam is the focal point of the College’s permanent memorial to the Sept. 11 attacks, appropriately placed in the HEC, which features state-of-the-art training facilities for first responders
