College of DuPage Presents ‘Nature’ at Humanities Festival March

Explore questions of nature and how we exist in, through, and perhaps beyond the natural world at “Nature,” the humanities festival at College of DuPage

Tuesday and Wednesday, March 3 and 4, at the College’s Glen Ellyn campus, 425 Fawell Blvd.

The two-day festival features lectures and presentations from College faculty, instructors and staff from a vast array of disciplines. All events are free and open to the public. View a full list of events.

The festival opens at 9 a.m., Tuesday, March. 3, in the Student Resource Center, Room 2201 with “Mindfulness of Nature,” a presentation from COD Mental Health Counselor Dennis Emano. Subsequent sessions throughout the festival include “The Nature of Peace: Thich Nhat Hanh’s Mindfulness Practices and His Poetry,” “Climate Cinema: Change and Crisis on Screen,” “Connecting with Nature through Forest Bathing,” “How Wilderness Preservation Harms Developing Nations,” “The Incredible, Invisible You,” “On Nature and Freedom: From Rousseau to Marx,” “Second Nature: Captivity and Zoo Aesthetics,” “The Monarchs of Pilsen” and “Wanderlust: Seeking Unity with Nature.”

Additional programming includes a screening of the documentary “Virunga Congo” as part of the College’s Global Flicks movie series at 1:30 and 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, in Belushi Performance Hall at the McAninch Arts Center. Later in the month, artist and lecturer Mary Mattingly will discuss issues of sustainability, climate change and displacement as part of the Visiting Artist Series at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 18, in Belushi Performing Hall.
