District 89 To Increase In-Person Learning Times
Officials said the change, which goes into effect March 22, comes amid decreased infection rates and increased vaccine availability.
GLEN ELLYN, IL — Students in Community Consolidated School District 89 who are enrolled in hybrid learning will be able to be back in class for more hours starting March 22. In an update, district officials said the shift comes amid decreased coronavirus infection rates and increased vaccine availability for educators.
As of March 22, the district's hybrid learning elementary students will be in session from 8:50 a.m. to 1:05 p.m. Monday through Friday and will complete the remainder of each school day remotely. Hybrid learning students in middle school will be able to return to class for a full day Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Wednesday will remain fully remote for middle school students.
District 89 will email parents Friday with a form allowing them to request a change to their student's learning format if they choose. After March 22, the new schedules will remain in effect for elementary and middle school students until the end of the school year and no further changes can be made.
