Districts 41 & 87 To Use E-Learning Day Amid Freezing Temps

On Friday, wind chills were expected to be between 25 and 35 degrees below zero.

GLEN ELLYN, IL — Students in Glen Ellyn School District 41 and Glenbard District 87 will have an e-learning day Friday, with schools closed amid freezing temperatures.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), Friday will bring a high temperature of negative five degrees and wind chills as low as 35 degrees below zero.

District 41 before school and afterschool activities had been canceled. Students had been originally set to attend for a half-day Friday for a School Improvement Day (SIP). Administrators said parents would receive an email Thursday regarding the schedule for e-learning.

District 87 had canceled athletic practices, except for varsity teams. Any scheduled competitions for all levels of athletes were set to continue as planned.

The forecast calls for extremely low temperatures throughout the weekend.
