Sponsored in part by DuPage Medical Group, The Glenbard Parent Series: Navigating Healthy Families presents “I Play Clean” with Dick Butkus at 7 p.m. on Monday, May 4. The event will take place in the Glenbard West High School auditorium at 670 Crescent Blvd. in Glen Ellyn. Board-certified and fellowship-trained DMG orthopaedic surgeon, Dr. Vijay Thangamani will join NFL Hall of Famer and American football icon, Dick Butkus to participate in the program. Dr. Thangamani will serve on the expert panel in order to offer valuable training and sports safety tips for athletes and parents.

The ‘I Play Clean’ program encourages teens to train to reach or exceed their potential, eat well, and play with assertiveness, instead of resorting to illegal performance-enhancing drugs. Parents, coaches and high school athletes are invited to hear advice about training, nutrition and the health issues involved with steroid-use from one of the greatest players in NFL history.

Attendees will also hear valuable health advice from Dr. Thangamani, who formerly served as a team sports physician for the Boston Celtics & Tufts University as well as a student athletic trainer for the University of Notre Dame. Dick’s son, Matt Butkus, a former defensive lineman for the USC Trojans, will also participate in the program. Big Ten Network anchor and Glenbard West alum, Mike Hall, will serve as moderator of the discussion.
