Dr. Brian Caputo Named President-Elect of Three Fires Council

Three Fires Council supports the mission of the Boy Scouts of America by providing local youth programs and outdoor activities locally.

College of DuPage President Dr. Brian Caputo recently was named President-Elect of the Three Fires Council and Representative to the National Council of the Boy Scouts of America.

Three Fires Council, based in St. Charles, Illinois, supports the mission of the Boy Scouts of America, providing local youth programs and outdoor activities in DeKalb, DuPage, Kane, Kendall and portions of Cook and Will counties. The council also operates Camp Big Timber in Elgin. Through the 3,200 adult leaders, the council provides the Scouting program to nearly 7,000 youth members.

Current Three Fires Council President Daniel Zedan said Dr. Caputo is an ideal fit for the role.

“He’s an Eagle Scout that has distinguished himself throughout his career by working with a variety of youth and education programs and we believe his affable personality will make him a great fit in helping our organization move out of the past and into the future,” he said.

Dr. Caputo has held a variety of volunteer leadership positions with the Boy Scouts, including Den Leader, Assistant Scoutmaster and Council Vice President, Three Fires Council; Unit Commissioner, Rainbow Council, Illinois; District Advancement Chairman, Northwest Suburban Council, Illinois; District Commissioner, Lake Huron Area Council, Michigan; and Cubmaster, Monterey Bay Area Council, California. In addition, he and his two sons achieved Eagle Scout status with the organization.

“It is an honor to continue to serve the Three Fires Council,” Dr. Caputo said. “The Boy Scout organization had a positive impact on my life and those of my sons and I look forward to offering my leadership to further the council’s mission and service to future Scouts.”
