Glendale Heights Man Vandalized, Stole Flock Cameras

Police say Hayden Green, 19, destroyed and stole Flock cameras and damaged a radar unit near a school.

GLENDALE HEIGHTS, IL — A Glendale Heights man has been accused of damaging and stealing Flock license-plate reader cameras and damaging a radar unit in Glendale Heights, Bloomington and unincorporated DuPage County. Police say the radar unit was in a school zone.

Hayden Green, 19, was charged with theft of government property and criminal damage to government-supported property in connection with the Aug. 14 incidents.

When police executed a search warrant for Green's car, they reported finding a reciprocating saw, night-vision binoculars and a notepad.

The notepad contained the following message, which police say Green wrote,

"The world as it stands today appalls me, the depravity, wars, rape, all of it distracted by the hands behind this deprecated society. All of these poor misled proud boys, pigs the lot of them shall be subject to my judgment. I will save the worthy and dispatch the vermin. This world needs someone to do the dirty work. They will fear me. I will cleanse this filthy world, for someone has to."

According to police, Green spray painted five Flock cameras in Glendale Heights and stole two. He is also accused of shattering the glass on a radar unit near Reskin Elementary School and cutting the wires to its display.

During an investigation, police say they discovered Green had damaged Flock cameras, cut wires, stole Flock cameras and damaged the radar unit between 12 a.m. and 2 a.m. on Aug. 14.

“The allegation that the defendant not only intentionally damaged numerous license plate reader cameras but cut the wires of a pole mounted radar unit near the school zone of an elementary school are outrageous,” DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in a news release.

Berlin added, “Damaging a radar unit near a school zone is not only a serious crime but endangers the safety of school children on their way to and from school. Damaging or stealing License Plate Readers impacts the ability of police to keep the community safe. Anyone caught damaging or stealing radar units or LPR cameras will be met with the full force of the law."

Green was granted pre-trial release, since the charges against him are not detainable offenses. He is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 14.
