Driver Fled Traffic Stop, Smashed Into Fire Hydrant In Glen Ellyn: Cops

Police say the woman was driving on a suspended license when she fled police.

GLEN ELLYN, IL — A DeKalb woman was charged with aggravated fleeing and eluding after police say she fled a traffic stop in Glen Ellyn. Breyanna Matthews, 26, was also charged with traffic-related misdemeanors and violations in connection with the incident.

Matthews is accused of fleeing a Glen Ellyn police officer around 10: 41 p.m on Jan. 15, driving over a curb and hitting a fire hydrant. Police say she caused roughly $300 in damage.

Matthews was released on her own recognizance and was not taken into custody. She was also charged with or cited for driving with a suspended license, improper lane usage, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and disobeying a traffic control device.
