‘Explore Engineering’ Event for Students & Parents Oct. 25 at COD

Learn about engineering education and careers at College of DuPage as part of “Explore Engineering” from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 25, in the Student Resource Center, Room 2000, on the Glen Ellyn campus, 425 Fawell Blvd.

Aimed at high school juniors and seniors as well as college freshman, this free event provides opportunities to learn about engineering education and careers while offering an inside look at how engineers think when designing a product. During the evening, professional engineers will discuss how they have used their degrees in a range of fields such as bioengineering, industrial engineering, civil engineering, mechanical engineering and electrical engineering in industry and research environments. In addition, representatives from prestigious engineering schools will be on hand to provide information and answer questions.

The Engineering program at College of DuPage provides the first two years of baccalaureate work, including courses in mathematics, computer programming, chemistry, physics, engineering graphics, mechanics, circuits and general studies. Upon completion of the Associate in Engineering Science degree, students transfer to baccalaureate-granting institutions, where they complete the last two years of their bachelor's degree in engineering. COD also offers the Engineering Pathways program that can provide guaranteed admission to the College of Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

College of DuPage is regionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. Serving approximately 25,000 students each term, College of DuPage is the largest public community college in the state of Illinois. The College grants several associate degrees and offers more than 170 career and technical certificates in over 50 areas of study.
