Fast-Moving Storm Downs Trees, Power Lines in Glen Ellyn

The village of Glen Ellyn is working to clean up following a fast-moving storm Monday.

A powerful and fast-moving storm Monday downed trees and power lines in Glen Ellyn Monday afternoon.

Public works crews in the village worked through the evening to clear roadways that had been blocked by debris following the storm, which resulted in heavy rainfall, damaging winds and hail, according to a village press release.

The village is working to clean-up and provided the following reminders to residents:

  • Electricity/Power: Report power outages immediately to ComEd by calling 1-800-Edison-1 or by clicking here.
  • Branch/Brush Pick Up: Residents who have storm-related tree debris are encouraged to bring it to the curb as soon as practical. Either a village contractor or village public works crews will remove and dispose of the tree branches and brush. The village requests that residents place any large diameter (i.e. greater than 10 in.) tree branches or logs in a separate pile. Given the large volume of storm-related debris, removal efforts may take time.
