GLEN ELLYN, IL — One of the largest Frida Kahlo exhibits to come to the Chicago area in decades has been postponed due to the coronavirus crisis. Originally planned to open in June 2020 at College of DuPage's Cleve Carney Art Gallery, the exhibition, to be called Frida Kahlo: Timeless, is set to open June 5, 2021.

The exhibit will still feature a rare collection of 26 exclusive illustrations and paintings on loan from Museo Dolores Olmedo in Mexico.

In a post on the McAninch Arts Center Facebook page, exhibit organizers said, "In light of the fluid impact of COVID-19, we have determined the health and safety of all communities must remain our top priority and have therefore decided to postpone the Frida Kahlo 2020 exhibition to June 5 - Sept. 6, 2021." Organizers wrote that the "incredibly difficult decision"will help to "give us the best opportunity to bring Frida’s artwork to the widest community possible, and to present her legacy in the celebratory spirit with which has always been intended."
