Fun Fair a first at Marklund Day School
Thanks to 59 volunteers from Capital One, students enjoyed a day of games, crafts and other fun activities.

Volunteers from Capital One Financial Corporation provided students from Marklund Day School with something they’ve never experienced before: A Fun Fair, which was recently held at the Ann Haskins Center in Bloomingdale.
Fifty-nine employees from Capital One Financial Corporation volunteered for the day, joining staff and teachers in assisting students with indoor and outdoor games, crafts and other engaging activities, including face painting, marble races, a penny drop game and a sensory table/station.
In one case, a student was too shy to walk into the Fun Fair area; so instead, the Fun Fair came to him. Some of the volunteers brought their activity into his classroom to give him a chance to participate. After a while, he felt more comfortable and attended the Fair with his teacher.

“We all had a great time and came together to make the day a success,” said Paula Bodzioch, director of Marklund Day School. “We saw so many smiles, not just from our Multi-Needs and Life Skills students but also from volunteers who spent the day with us. We want to say a special thank-you. Their enthusiasm and passion helped make the day a special one.”
