Crannell bought a bag of Cheetos, police say, and then left the store to get back into the car. Bonner is accused of coming into the store in a ski mask, showing a knife to the clerk and stealing $210 in cash from the register, along with "multiple boxes of cigarettes," a news release said.

Police say Bonner left the store and fled officers in the car with Crannell and the third person, heading eastbound on I-290. The three are accused of getting out of the car and continuing to flee on foot. They were taken into custody shortly after and police say they found a knife in the car.

“The allegations that these two defendants robbed a gas station store clerk at knifepoint in daylight hours are extremely serious,” DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said.

Berlin added, “Once again, the quick arrest of the defendants and the million dollar bonds set in this case send a strong message that violent crime will not be tolerated in DuPage County."

Crannell and Bonner are both being held in DuPage County Jail on $1 million and are set to appear in court on Sept. 5. As of Wednesday evening, no information had been made available regarding charges for the third suspect.
