The 2015 Glen Ellyn Garden Walk features six private gardens, plus a bonus Glen Ellyn Park District collaborative, pantry-based, community garden. The gardens featured this year are ‘gardener’s gardens,’ primarily maintained by the homeowners themselves, and will appeal to garden lovers great and small. Featured in the 2015 Glen Ellyn Garden Walk is a palatial backyard sanctuary renovated into a peaceful, shady oasis, a transformational garden highlighting several tree varieties, including silver maples and katsuras, a backyard retreat comprised of color and texture centering around a Japanese Red Maple, an eclectic serenity garden that marries mature trees, mixed borders and landscape art, and a peaceful tranquility garden that seamlessly integrates both ornamental plants as well as species native to our area.
This year, we are featuring several gardens within close proximity to one another. Our sprawling will call garden (the Vogelsinger Garden) is situated on a double lot, bringing you twice the area to explore. Right across the street, you will tour our robust shade garden (Giampoli Garden) comprising of hummingbird and butterfly ‘rooms.’ Another surprise to the Walk this year can be found at the Bladel Garden where you will find a ‘secret gate’ that leads to the Bray Garden, a tranquil family oasis, featuring a pondless waterfall.
