Glen Ellyn Likely To Delay Streetscape Construction
The village will likely delay the start of construction until 2022 due to the new coronavirus crisis and planning for Frida Kahlo 2021.

GLEN ELLYN, IL — The village of Glen Ellyn has moved forward with the design of its streetscape and utility project, but it's likely construction won't start until 2022, according to an update from village officials. Design of the project had been on pause due to the new coronavirus, but recently resumed and a workshop was held Monday.
Village officials wrote in the update that the likely delay in construction comes amid the village assessing how the coronavirus crisis has impacted funding. The delay will also help avoid construction during the Frida Kahlo 2021 exhibit at College of DuPage, which was also rescheduled as a result of coronavirus.
Some of the current items the village is workshopping include weighing sidewalk and parking plans and how they would affect the current outdoor dining setup. The village says it is also working to reduce the budget of the project and may combine Crescent Boulevard streetscape work with the planned Metra station improvements, or delay the improvement of parklets downtown.
