Glen Ellyn Park District Plans Projects, Upgrades for 2015

The Glen Ellyn Park District is planning to make several improvements to its facilities and parks in 2015.
The park district is projected to spend about $18.9 million on the upgrades, which includes nearly $2 million in improvements at Lake Ellyn Park and restoration to the historic Lake Ellyn boathouse, the Daily Herald reports.

The project at Lake Ellyn Park will include adding a sidewalk that runs parallel to New Lenox Road and replacing existing sidewalk with permeable pavement, according to the newspaper. The boathouse will get a new, redesigned front entryway and upgrades to its kitchen and bathroom.
Newton Park will get a new turf field at a cost of $1 million and the park district plans to repair the park’s tennis courts for $55,000, according to the Daily Herald.

The park district also plans to replace the parking lot at the Ackerman Sports & Fitness Center with permeable pavement, according to the article. Most of the $627,000 for that project is covered by a grant.
