Glen Ellyn Police Participate In Special Olympics Torch Run

The torch run, which crosses several states, helps raise money and awareness for Special Olympics Illinois.

GLEN ELLYN, IL -- Members of the Glen Ellyn Police Department recently took part in the Law Enforcement Torch Run, which helps raise money and awareness for Special Olympics Illinois. The local participants were among a number of police officers throughout the state to help carry the Flame of Hope across Illinois starting June 2 in anticipation of the Special Olympics Summer Games on June 7.

The Glen Ellyn Police Department shared photos on Facebook of their participation in the torch run on Sunday.

According to the post, the Flame of Hope will pass through the hands of some 3,000 officers as it makes its way to Normal, where the 2019 Special Olympics Illinois Summer Games will be held. The games kick off Friday.
