Glen Ellyn Rejects Jehovah's Witnesses Request for Portable Brochure Rack
The church had hoped to place the brochure rack on a public sidewalk in downtown Glen Ellyn.

Glen Ellyn trustees this past week rejected a proposal by the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses to set up a portable brochure rack in front of The Patio Restaurant in downtown Glen Ellyn, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Commercial signage and “the placement of any kind of structure” must first be approved by the village board, and on Monday, trustees voted 4-2 against allowing the church to set up the brochure rack on a public sidewalk for evangelistic purposes.
The Chicago Tribune reports the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses had recently been using the Glen Ellyn Metra station for its portable brochure rack and for the purpose of street ministry but the railroad has since revoked that permission, said Village Attorney Greg Mathews.
