Great Entertainment at the MAC March 12 & 13: DRUM TAO and Danu
DRUM TAO brings exciting musicianship and athleticism at 3 & 7 p.m.; Danú rocks the MAC with their St. Patrick's Day Celebration at 6 p.m.

The McAnnich Arts Center (MAC) located at 425 Fawell Blvd., hosts two thoroughly entertaining shows this week: DRUM TAO (March 12) and Danu (March 13).
DRUM TAO 2022 brings extraordinary musicianship and exciting athleticism with performances at 3 and 7 p.m. This performance is part of DRUM TAO’s 2022 North American Tour. A free pre-show discussion provided by COD Percussion Professor Ben Wahlund will begin one hour prior to each performance in MAC Room 140.
DRUM TAO showcases the world’s foremost performers in Japanese taiko drumming. Hailed for its fiery and athletic drumming routines, the group presents a large-scale performance experience featuring the incomparable “Wadaiko-drums,” beautiful melody of Japanese flutes and harps, energizing choreography and contemporary costuming to captivate audiences’ eyes and ears.

More than 8 million spectators across the world have experienced DRUM TAO’s edgy, high-energy performances. The Chicago Tribune hails them as “Extraordinarily talented percussion artists, … seductive, alluring performers,” and the Miami Herald, “Supernaturally fit and superbly trained…Fully deserving of the standing ovation that the company receives.”
Danú, one of the leading traditional Irish ensembles, brings their St. Patrick’s Day Celebration to the McAninch Arts Center (MAC) at 6 p.m., Sunday, March 13. Winner of numerous awards from the BBC and Irish Music Magazine, Danú takes audiences on a musical journey to their native Ireland, offering a moving and memorable concert experience filled with jigs, reels, songs and more in advance of St. Patrick’s Day. "(Danú) stirs the blood and lifts the heart” (Irish Music Magazine). Dancers from the Trinity Academy of Irish Dance will do a brief performance in the MAC lobby beginning at 5:30 p.m.

For more than two decades, Danú's virtuosi players on flute, tin whistle, fiddle, button accordion, bouzouki, and vocals (Irish and English) have delighted audiences worldwide. Hailing from County Waterford, Kerry, Dublin and Donegal in Ireland, Danú is one of the leading traditional Irish musical groups today. Their standing-room-only concerts throughout Ireland are mesmerizing shows often featuring a mix of ancient Irish music and new work from their repertoire. The Washington Post hails them as, “a vibrant mix of virtuosity, energy and empathy.”
