Healthy West Chicago is Hiring a Director
The new initiative is meant to make West Chicago healthier and tackle high childhood obesity rates in the city.

West Chicago is looking to hire a director for its Healthy West Chicago initiative.
A request for applications was issued at the end of December with hopes of having a director hired by February, according to the Daily Herald. The deadline to apply for the opening is Jan. 15.
The Healthy West Chicago initiative was spearheaded by Mayor Ruben Pineda two years ago following a visit with the Oklahoma City mayor whose city went from being one of the most obese to one of the healthiest, according to the Daily Herald. Since the obesity rate in West Chicago schools is around 48 percent, Pineda is hopeful a similar initiative will help make West Chicago healthier as well.
