High School Students Organize 1,001 Backpacks for Haiti and Home

A new organization with the aim to fight poverty through providing educational materials.

Oakbrook Terrace, IL - 1,001 backpacks for Haiti and Home is a service project organized by high school students throughout the Chicago area under the guidance of Partners for Achievement, a college planning company.

The group is working to collect new and gently-used backpacks and school supplies to help students in need succeed in school. Last year the group collected more than 2,200 backpacks and 80 pounds of school supplies for children in Haiti.

For the 2018 collection, they are expanding to help students in the Chicago area as well. Half of our collection will be donated to a number of organizations, including: Anne M. Jeans Elementary School in Willowbrook, and Hebzibah House in Oak Park, an organization helping children from abusive homes.

They are hoping this year’s collection is even bigger than last year so more children can make the most of their education. The collection runs through October 2. If you have any backpacks or supplies to donate or would like to help in any other way, please contact us using the information below. Your help in this important service project is truly appreciated.
