Higher Water Bill In Glen Ellyn? Village Gives Explanation
Many Glen Ellyn residents saw a notable increase in their November water bills. The village has an explanation.

GLEN ELLYN, IL — After getting several complaints from residents about higher water bills, the Village of Glen Ellyn has offered an explanation. Many resident saw increases on their November water bills, which covered Aug. 15 through Sept. 15 or Sept. 1 through Oct. 1. A large part of the problem, the village says, was a lack of rainfall in August.
The village's November newsletter, said the higher water bills were "due to a number of reasons," but only explicitly cited one. According to the newsletter, there was "almost no precipitation" in September and August had less than an inch of precipitation, data from the Village Links Golf Course showed.
This was atypical for August, which the village says is typical one of the wettest months of the year.

For this reason, the village thinks the higher water bills can be attributed to residents using more water to keep their gardens and lawns green during the waning months of summer.
October, on the other hand, was a record-breaking month for rainfall in Glen Ellyn. The village received nearly 16 inches of precipitation.
