Hill Avenue Bridge to Close for Reconstruction on Monday
The Hill Avenue Bridge over the East Branch of the DuPage River in western Lombard will be closed to all traffic for six months.

The Hill Avenue Bridge over the East Branch of the DuPage River in western Lombard, near Glen Ellyn, will be closed to all traffic for six months due to reconstruction, beginning the week of July 18, 2016.
A signed detour route utilizing Crescent Boulevard will be established for the duration of the project. In advance of the bridge closing, temporary message boards have been posted on Hill Avenue on both the Glen Ellyn and Lombard sides of Hill Avenue. It is projected that the bridge will reopen in December 2016.

The bridge design is per Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) standards, with input provided by the Villages of Glen Ellyn and Lombard. The design and construction costs are funded at 80 percent by the State of Illinois' Highway Bridge Program and 20 percent split evenly between the two Villages.
Motorists that use Hill Avenue are encouraged to sign up for the Village of Lombard's "Notify Me" service at villageoflombard.org/notifyme to receive timely updates regarding construction in their area. "Notify Me" provides project e-mail and text updates, including any potentially urgent information.
