Holocaust Survivor To Speak At Glenbard South and Glenbard West

Joyce Wagner, 94, was the only member of her family of 11 to survive the horrors of Auschwitz Concentration Camp.

GLEN ELLYN, IL — Glen Ellyn students will have a rare opportunity to hear a Holocaust survivor talk about her experiences. Joyce Wagner, 94, will speak at Glenbard South and Glenbard West on Monday, May 22, and Thursday, May 24.

Wagner was the only member of her family of 11 to survive the Holocaust after spending years at the Auschwitz Concentration Camp. Wagner has been speaking about the injustices she suffered during the Holocaust for more than four decades. In 2007, she published a startling memoir entitled “A Promise to Bear Witness,” which chronicled her time in Auschwitz during the Holocaust.

Wagner is known for inspiring children to embrace love, compassion and courage with her moving speeches. She will appear at Glenbard South Auditorium Monday, May 22, at 1 p.m. and at Glenbard West Library Thursday, May 24, at 12:45 p.m.
