Memorial Day Volunteers Honored Veterans of the Civil War

Volunteers from the Glen Ellyn Historical Society met at Forest Hill Cemetery to place flags on Civil War graves.

Tuesday, May 21 was a rainy spring day, when volunteers from the Glen Ellyn
Historical Society met at Forest Hill Cemetery, Riford Rd and St.
Charles Rd. to place Memorial Day
Observance Flags on the graves of Glen Ellyn Civil War
Soldiers, veterans from the War of
1812 and the Spanish American War. The rain came down gently as the
four patriots followed the grave maps and honored them with American
Flags. This project has been carried out by the GEHS for nine years
and rain was not going to stop them in 2019. The flags are at the
grave sites for one week. This is a good time for scouts, area
students and families to experience the history of Glen Ellyn.
