Leonard Cohen (b.1934) may have written this terrific song about his take on society and the human spirit 30 years ago, but it could have been written yesterday with lines like "Everybody knows the boat is leaking, everybody knows the captain lied", or "Everybody knows the war is over, everybody knows the good guys lost". Cohen turns 80 in September but is still spinning his magic in live performances and hopefully, still writing gems like "Everybody Knows."
