Pumpkins Smashed, Yard Signs Stolen: Glen Ellyn Blotter

A suspect stole a sign from a church that read "No matter where you're from, we're glad you're our neighbor."

GLEN ELLYN, IL — Glen Ellyn Police received reports of more yard sign theft and vandalism, just a week after issuing surveillance photos of a man they believe has been spray painting yard signs. One sign that was stolen from St. Mark's Church in the 300 block of Main St. read "No matter where you're from, we're glad you're our neighbor."

That incident, along with the following items is from the Glen Ellyn police blotter for Nov. 6 through Nov. 11.

Vehicle Burglary

11/6: Suspect(s) burglarized two unlocked vehicles and took change from the cars' center consoles. They also removed a Tumi suitcase from the trunk of one car. The suitcase was valued at $1,000.

11/7: Someone smashed multiple pumpkins on a baseball field at Village Green Park, in the 100 block of Lambert Rd. The litter was discovered at approximately 2:22 p.m.

Theft

11/8: A resident in the 400 block of Main St. reported that a Playstation 4 game system, two controllers, and 10 video games were stolen from their home. The incident took place between 12:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. and the victim reported the items were likely stolen by someone who had access to their home.

11/9-11/10: Thieves defeated the locks on two women's Diamondback bicycles that were parked in the lot of Budgetel Inn in the 600 block of Roosevelt. The victim(s) told police one bike was red and the other was white.

Criminal Defacement

11/10: Suspect(s) damaged a yard sign in the 700 block of Park Ave. by stepping on it and kicking it at approximately 7:25 p.m.
