Renovations To Begin At Ackerman SFC

GLEN ELLYN, IL — The Glen Ellyn Park District is set to start work on upgrades to the Ackerman Sports and Fitness Center. The renovations, supported by the bond referendum local voters approved last June, will begin Sept. 5.

New amenities will include:

• New gymnastics facility
• Outdoor pickleball courts
• 2 new fitness studios
• Multipurpose room

The project will also encompass upgrades to the center's front desk and other stylistic improvements.

It's anticipated that the construction will wrap up in the summer of 2024. In an update, park district officials wrote, "We understand that construction can be disruptive, and we appreciate your patience and cooperation during this time."

Crews have also begun work on Sunset Pool, which caused the pool to close early for the 2022-23 season.
