Simply Scrumptious Salad Competition

Residents of Friendship Village in Schaumburg competed in the Simply Scrumptious Salad competition to determine which creation tasted best.

It was a fitting title for a totally delectable event. On Thursday, June 21st, 10 residents of Friendship Village in Schaumburg competed in the Simply Scrumptious Salad competition to determine which creation was the greatest palate pleaser.

The panel of unbiased but hungry judges included representatives from Lynfred Winery, Mariano’s of Hoffman Estates, Portillo’s, State Farm Insurance, and the producer of WTTW’s Check Please.

The prize-winning entry was the decadent Snickers taffy apple salad created by Joan Farnworth. Della Humbert took second place with her five-cup salad, and Mary Kelly came in third with her orange jello salad.
