Practice the art of impressionism through stream of consciousness writing inspired by great masterpieces. Inspirited by these works of art, write as if en plein air. Like these master painters, you will be free to express your impressions as you experience them, transcending the binding rules of grammar, logic and order. You will be amazed by the words that will flow from your pen!

Recipe for a Family Memoir

Your family recipes - and the memories they’ve created - make great writing! Learn techniques to interview family members to obtain colorful anecdotes and to help remember your own stories. We will work on writing tips to create engaging narratives to bring the recipes to life. Lastly, we will put it all together in a Shutterfly application, so the finished product is something you can order from home to cherish for a lifetime.

About the instructor: Ms. Ehrke is a freelance writer who studied writing at Northwestern University and earned a Master of Liberal Arts degree from the University of Chicago. She has writing experience as a columnist, feature writer, blogger, corporate staff, public relations specialist, and creative writer. Her first novel is under contract to be published.
