Students Can Build Balloon Cars, Spider Webs At CCSD 89 Event
Multiple interactive stations will be set up to let kids explore glitter slime, create graphic arts, and build airplanes.

GLEN ELLYN, IL — Kids can build balloon cars, experiment with glitter slime, and use electrical currents to illuminate jack-o-lanterns at an upcoming STEAM night hosted by Community Consolidated School District 89. The Oct. 22 event, which is geared toward students in kindergarten through 8th grade, offers a range of other hands-on activities to help kids integrate science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM).
Multiple activity stations will be set up during the event that focus on such skills as critical thinking, problem-solving, and art design. Kids can tap into their coding skills to craft a graphic arts project or hone their engineering skills by building an airplane out of clothespins.
Students must be registered in advance to attend this free STEAM night and parents are encouraged to accompany them. Glen Crest Middle School science and math teacher Paul Wilson, who helped organize the event said in a statement, "This is a time when we can bring all families together. Students will be able to use the available resources to have fun with science through positive, creative interaction."
