Juan M. Granados, 39, formerly Glen Ellyn, fled to Mexico after being charged with murdering his ex-wife, Nancy Bustos, in 2011.
GLEN ELLYN, IL — A man accused of sexually assaulting and murdering his wife in Glen Ellyn in 2011 will be held without bond, according to Glen Ellyn Police. Juan M. Granados, 39, was charged with seven counts of first degree murder, one count of criminal sexual assault, and one count of criminal sexual assault involving a death.
Glen Ellyn Police found the body of the suspect's ex-wife, Nancy Bustos, 36, in the Glen Ellyn apartment she shared with Granados and their two children. After an investigation by Glen Ellyn Police and the DuPage County Major Crimes Task Force, a warrant was issued for Granados' arrest in 2012. Granados, who had fled to Mexico shortly after the murder of his ex-wife, was tracked down and taken into custody in 2016. He was extradited to the United States and incarcerated in DuPage County Jail.
After Judge Brian Telander denied Grandos bond, DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said, "Today in a DuPage County Courtroom, Mr. Granados' attempts to avoid facing these charges came to an end. I would like to thank the Glen Ellyn Police Department for their continued efforts over the years to bring Mr. Granados to justice."
