Glen Ellyn Historical Society members gathered to wish Ethel Shelton, an active GEHS member for over 30 years, good luck and a great life in Atlanta, Georgia. She will be re-locating in May and enjoyed
sharing stories and memories at the Farewell Brunch, Saturday, April 11. Shelton and her husband, Bob were involved in the GEHS almost at the beginning. He passed away several years ago and is long remembered for the successful Bake Sale idea that provided the wonderful fruit pies at the Glen Ellyn Farmers Market. Not only was Shelton known for her famous apple pies, but she performed in Chicago for 25 years with the Apollo Chorus and was very active in the United Methodist Church. Her responsibilities besides the bake sales, were docenting at Stacy’s Tavern, volunteering at every fund raiser, hosting the public during programs presented by the GEHS and staying in close contact with the membership as an information provider.
