Glen Ellyn Juniors Woman’s Club Announces 13th Annual Glen Ellyn Garden Walk Set for Saturday, June 20th, 2015

Annual event draws hundreds of local residents and visitors to explore Glen Ellyn’s most beautiful private gardens.

Glen Ellyn, IL (May 12, 2015) --- The Glen Ellyn Junior Woman’s Club (GEJWC) is pleased to host the 13th annual Glen Ellyn Garden Walk on Saturday, June 20th from 10am-4pm, with proceeds benefiting the Transitional Housing Program for Bridge Communities, Inc. Tickets are $25 (advance) / $30 (door) and includes a self-guided tour map, entrance into each featured garden, opportunity to speak with Master Gardeners who will discuss plant material, design style, challenges peculiar to Midwest gardens as well as answer any gardening questions, and specialized presentations taking place throughout the day.

The 2015 Glen Ellyn Garden Walk will feature six private gardens, ranging from minimalist to classic and everything in between; each showcasing a variety of gardening themes that are formal, whimsical, grand and diminutive, with plantings done primarily by the homeowners themselves. Also included in the 2015 Garden Walk is Glen Ellyn Park District’s Growing Glen Ellyn: Gardens for the Giving, a collaboration between the Village’s Environmental Commission and D41 school children. Food cultivated in Gardens for the Giving will be donated to The Glen Ellyn Food Pantry and will provide fresh goods for their clients. There will also be raffle opportunities from local eateries and establishments as well.

Gardening enthusiasts will enjoy taking part in what is considered to be the unofficial gateway from spring into summer. This locally recognized event invites crowds from all over the Chicagoland area to take part in a one-day, self-guided tour of gorgeous private gardens throughout historic Glen Ellyn.

Glen Ellyn Junior Woman’s Club has been providing support to Glen Ellyn and the surrounding communities through philanthropic endeavors for over 64 years. Our members consist of women dedicated to improving the community in which we live and assisting those in need.
