Watch TV Without a Cable Subscription in the Cable No More Family Room
GEPL's Cable No More Family Room, an interactive exhibit, runs May 2, 2016 through May 27, 2016.

Experience life without a cable subscription at Glen Ellyn Public Library’s Cable No More Family Room May 2, 2016 through May 27, 2016.
This interactive exhibit, created by the library, allows the community to do more than just learn about alternatives to cable subscriptions.
“The exhibit is designed to look and feel like a typical family room,” said Ian Lashbrook, GEPL’s Instruction Librarian and Business Liaison. “We wanted to give visitors the opportunity to try out an array of online streaming services and devices in a comfortable, hands-on environment.”

The Cable No More Family Room gives visitors access to major streaming services through some of the most popular streaming devices. Visitors can test drive the latest Apple TV, Roku and Amazon’s Fire TV Stick and watch a movie or television show from Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, Sling Television and VUDU.
The interactive exhibit, located in The Lounge on the second floor of the library, is open to anyone with a valid state ID or driver’s license. Visitors reserve the room for set two-hour time slots and reservations can be made in person at the 2nd Floor Information Desk or by phone at 630-790-6630

“We hope interaction with this exhibit will educate visitors, making them aware of television viewing options outside of traditional cable services and empower them to consider making changes to the way they consume video programming in their own homes,” said Lashbrook.
