We recently took to the Glen Ellyn Facebook page to learn what needs to be changed or improved in Glen Ellyn. The responses were well-thought and diverse.

A variety of new business was a response shared by many. Several said they would like to see a locally-owned grocery store in the downtown area.

“(I would) like to see a fresh market/cafe/healthy grocery in the Giesche location. It is big enough for all those popular venues,” Pattie Harte-Naus said.

Others wanted an ice cream shop downtown and more restaurants with outdoor seating.

“We’ve been down there so many evenings with the kids and said we wished there was a local shop/stand to buy some good ice cream/custard/yogurt at,” Lindsay McKibben said.

Another mom said she would like to see a “play cafe” open in Glen Ellyn.

“A play cafe where adults can have coffee/food and there is a designated play area for the kids. These are very popular in the city,” Katie Farinella said.

Others said they would like to see a parking garage in the downtown area. And, of course, at least one person responded that they would like to see lower property taxes.

“(I would like to see) lower property taxes so I can buy a house,” Mikal Ray said.
