Woman Who Killed Daughter, 4, To Live In Glen Ellyn: Report
Marci Webber, 52, stabbed her daughter to death in 2010 for fear she would be kidnapped by Satan.

GLEN ELLYN, IL — A woman who pleaded insanity after she stabbed her daughter, 4, to death in 2010 for fear Satan would kidnap her, has been released from a mental hospital and will be living in Glen Ellyn, the Daily Herald reports. Marci Webber, 52, was found not guilty by reason of insanity in 2012, two years after slashing her daughter, Maggie's throat and writing, "Divine Mercy" with the toddler's blood on the bathroom walls of a family member's Bloomingdale home.
Webber will be on conditional release and must register as a murderer and violent offender against youth. She will be prohibited from being in contact with anyone under 17 without supervision.
According to a 2017 Patch article, Webber believed she was saving Maggie from being sold into sex slavery on the internet. After killing Maggie and leaving her in her home's bathtub, Webber turned the knife on herself and attempted to take her own life by slashing her throat and wrists repeatedly.

During an August hearing in which Webber sought to be released, psychiatrist Dr. Richard Malis said, "I believe [Webber is] still psychotic," according to Chicago Tribune. Webber has repeatedly asserted her sanity, first during her trial in 2012 and then in subsequent interviews with Chicago Tribune in which she blamed the murder on withdrawal from anti-psychotic drugs she was taking.
As a condition of her release Webber must also refrain from using recreational drugs and alcohol. If she violates the terms of her release, she will have to return to a state mental hospital.
