Work Starts This Week on Newton Avenue Water Tower

The water tower will be painted and a water mixer will be installed to improve water quality.

Submission by the village of Glen Ellyn

The Village's contractor will begin painting the Newton Avenue Water Tower on Tuesday, May 31.

In addition to the paint rehabilitation, a water mixer will also be installed that will improve water quality within the tower. The mixer will significantly reduce ice buildup inside the tank in the winter as well as diminish thermal water stratification in the summer.

Due to the importance of getting this water tower back, the Village has given our contractor permission to work seven days a week. The hours of work will be 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday through Saturday, and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Weather permitting, plans are to have the water tower back in service by the first week of July.
