Your Guide to Halloween Happenings in Glen Ellyn

There will be plenty of family-friendly events happening in Glen Ellyn in the coming days.

GLEN ELLYN, IL - There will be plenty of events to enjoy in the coming days as Halloween gets under way in Glen Ellyn.

Friday, Oct. 28

  • Reserve 22, 485 Winchell Way, will be holding a family costume night from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday. There will be a pumpkin drawing contest, Halloween costumes, children features, $5 s’mores and much more.

Saturday, Oct. 29

  • A Halloween Parade will be held at 9:45 a.m. Kids can meet at the gazebo near the Prairie Path east of Forest Avenue to march down Main Street from Hillside Avenue through Crescent Boulevard.
  • Downtown Halloween activities will be held in Glen Ellyn from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday. There will be live entertainment from the Glenbard West drumline, Anima, School of Rock & DeForest Dance Academy. Downtown Glen Ellyn businesses will be handing out candy to trick-or-treaters. Look for the orange Trick-or-Treat signs in the downtown, which designates businesses that will be handing out candy. A Halloween craft area will be set up. Bring a pantry item or $1 for the Glen Ellyn Food Pantry and receive a pumpkin to paint. There will also be a doggie Halloween costume contest at 12 p.m. Bring your dog and show off their costume.
  • The History Center, 800 N. Main Street, will host Haunted History: Goosebump Stories of the American Midwest at 2 p.m. Sit back and listen, if you dare, to professional speaker and actor Terry Lynch as he shares entertaining and chilling tales of some historical hauntings of the Midwest. Tickets may be purchased at Stacy's Corners Store, 800 N. Main Street, or by calling 630-469-1867.

Street Closures on Saturday

Motorists are asked to use caution and expect delays in the downtown area, as Halloween activities will result in several different street closures:

  • Main Street between Pennsylvania Avenue and Crescent Boulevard will be closed from 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
  • Halloween Parade route of Forest Avenue to Hillside Avenue to Main Street north will be closed during the duration of the parade.

Sunday, October 30

The Glen Ellyn Historical Society will host 'Twas the Night Before Halloween: A Not So Scary Halloween Tale A Fun Family Halloween Event at the History Center and Stacy's Tavern Museum at 2 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. Children (and adults) are invited to wear their costumes to attend, but costumes are not required.

Monday, Oct. 31

Residential trick-or-treating in Glen Ellyn will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 31.
