Over a dozen car windows smashed after schools ordered closed; 14 phones fraudulently sold; $86,000 check fraud: Glenview Police Blotter

GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Every person arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
INCIDENTS
CREDIT CARD FRAUD
A Waukegan Road resident reported around 10:30 a.m. on March 13 that someone used their credit card to make $200 worth of unauthorized purchases at unspecified locations.
AT&T SCAM
A Maple Leaf Drive resident reported on March 15 that a fake AT&T employee had scammed them out of $32,500 after requesting that a wire transfer be sent to "test" the resident's account.

CHECK FRAUD
An employee of an unspecified business in the 3600 block of West Lake Avenue reported around 10 a.m. on March 16 that someone had taken over an account and fraudulently cashed a check for a loss of $86,000.
CAR BURGLARY
A shopper in the 2700 block of Pfingsten Road reported around 10:30 a.m. on March 18 that someone had gotten into their apparently unlocked car and stole a backpack for a loss of $180.

THREAT
A resident in the 1000 block of Church Street reported around 7 p.m. on March 18 that he was threatened by a former employee.
DISORDERLY CONDUCT
A resident in the 2400 block of Indian Ridge Drive reported around 2:15 p.m. on March 19 that a motorist stopped to take pictures at a time when children were present.
ORDINANCE VIOLATION
An employee in the 1000 block of Zenith Drive reported around 7 p.m. on March 23 that people was using all-terrain vehicles in the park.
TRESPASSING
- Two men were found on the grounds of The Glen Club golf course around 8:45 p.m. on March 10 after a resident reported suspicious vehicles parked in the 2700 block of Commons Drive.
- A resident in the 3900 block of Crestwood Drive reported around 6 p.m. on March 11 that a man was on the property without permission.
- An employee at an apartment building in the 2500 block of Waterview Drive called police around 1:45 p.m. on March 21 to report a resident had become belligerent, argued with employees and refused to leave the office.
VANDALISM
- Graffiti was discovered on the morning of March 11 on the east side of a building in the park near the 500 block of Echo Lane. The reported repair cost was $50.
- The image of a grim reaper was found painted on a south sidewalk in the 2400 block of Lehigh Avenue on the morning of March 12.
THEFTS
- A resident in the 2500 block of Indigo Lane reported around 1 p.m. on March 11 that someone stole a pocketwatch and purse worth over $3,000 from their home between Aug. 18 and Aug. 27, 2019.
- A customer in the 3200 block of Glenview Road reported around 8 p.m. on March 12 that a phone had been stolen from their car for a reported loss of $50.
- A resident in the 200 block of Wilmette Avenue reported someone stole their lost wallet on March 12 or March 13 for a loss of $290.
- An employee of the cellphone kiosk store in the 2900 block of Patriot Boulevard reported around 2:30 p.m. on March 17 that someone had improperly sold 14 phones, defrauding the company out of more than $15,400.
- A resident in the 4500 block of Concord Lane reported around 11 a.m. on March 23 that someone stole $400 worth of cash and jewelry from their home between March 19 and March 20.
SHOPLIFTING
- An employee of The Curragh Irish Pub, 1800 Tower Road, reported around 7:30 p.m. on March 11 that a customer had not paid for $25 worth of items.
- An employee of the Target, 2241 Willow Road, reported someone stole more than $581 worth of small electronic items from displays and left the store without paying.
- An employee of the Walgreens, 2871 Pfingsten Road, reported around 6:45 p.m. on March 20 that two people stole numerous items and ran out the front door. The total amount of loss was not known at the time of the report.
IDENTITY THEFTS
- A Waukegan Road resident reported around 10:30 a.m. on March 13 that someone used their credit card to fraudulently make $200 worth of purchases.
- A Crystal Court resident reported on the morning of March 18 that someone tried to access their personal banking information after their employer allowed their personal data to be breached in a work computer system. There was no known loss at the time of the report.
- A Keenan Lane resident reported someone used their identity to unsuccessfully apply for a loan at a Florida bank. No loss was reported.
FORGERY
- An Arbor Lane resident reported on the morning of March 20 that someone had forged a check and withdrawn $2,500 from their bank account.
- A Longmeadow Drive resident reported on the afternoon of March 23 that someone had tried to deposit a check into their account and withdraw cash. There was no loss reported.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
- An employee in the 2800 block of Old Willow Road reported around 9:30 a.m. on March 12 that someone had damaged a toolbox by forcing it open for a loss of $300.
- A resident in the 1900 block of Larkdale Drive reported around 11 p.m. on March 12 that someone shattered the driver's side front window of their car parked on the street at some point in the last two days for a reported loss of $300.
- A resident in the 1900 Larkdale Drive reported around on March 12 that someone had shattered a rear window of their car parked in the driveway at some point between 3 and 9 p.m. for a loss of $400.
- A resident in the 100 block of Lincoln Street reported on the morning of March 13 someone had shattered the rear hatch window of their car in the driveway during the previous night for a loss of $300.
- A resident in the 2300 block of Larkdale Drive reported on the morning of March 13 someone had shattered a front driver's side window of a car parked on the street during the previous night for a $350 loss.
- A resident in the 2200 block of Linneman Street reported on the morning of March 13 that someone had shattered the rear hatch window on their car in the driveway during the previous night for a loss of $300.
- A resident in the 1900 block of Larkdale Drive reported on the morning of March 13 that someone had shattered the rear window of their parked car in the driveway during the previous night for a $350 loss.
- A resident in the 400 block of Michael Manor reported on the morning of March 13 that someone had shattered a rear window on their car on the driveway during the previous night for a loss of $500.
- A resident in the 2200 block of Linneman Street reported around 11 a.m. on March 13 that someone had shattered the driver's side rear window on their car parked on the street during the previous night, causing $150 in damage.
- A resident in the 1400 block of Pleasant Lane reported around 11:15 a.m. on March 13 that someone had shattered the rear window on their car parked on a driveway during the previous night for a $350 loss.
- A resident in the 1700 block of East Ridgewood Lane reported someone shattered the front driver's side window on their car while it as parked on the street between about 8 and 10 p.m. on March 14 for a reported loss of $1,000.
- A resident in the 900 block of Rolling Pass reported someone shattered the front driver's side window on their car parked on the street between 9:45 and 11:45 p.m. on March 14 for a $400 loss.
- A resident in the 2000 block of Henley Street reported on the morning of March 15 that someone had shattered the rear window of a parked car on the street during the previous night for a loss of $300.
- A resident in the 1000 block of Meadowlark Lane reported on March 15 that someone shattered the rear window of their car parked on the driveway at 10:17 p.m. on March 14. The reported loss was $350.
- A resident in the 3800 block of Kiess Drive reported on the morning of March 15 that someone had shattered their car's driver's door window, causing $500 in damage while it was parked on the street during the previous night.
- A resident in the 800 block of Prairie Lawn Road reported around 4:30 p.m. on March 15 that someone shattered their living room window, causing an unknown amount of damage.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS
Fabian Patino-Perez, 44, of the 4100 block of North Sacramento Avenue, Chicago, was arrested around 3 p.m. on March 9 following an investigation into a one-car traffic crash in the 2100 block of East Lake Avenue. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater. Patino-Perez, who was alone at the time, was also issued a failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash citation.
A 38-year-old Chicago man was issued a local ordinance retail theft violation citation around 6 p.m. March 10 after he took two items to the register at an unspecified business in the 2200 block of Willow Road but only paid for one. The store recovered $20 worth of property.
Mike Miller, 49, of the 5500 block of Tinder Drive, Rolling Meadows, was arrested shortly before midnight on March 11 by the Schaumburg Police Department on an Glenview Police warrant stemming from an investigation into a home burglary in the 3400 block of Lawrence Lane reported on Feb. 16. Police said he stole cash from inside and was later identified through security video.
Robert K. Zeivel, 65, of the 1000 block of Rolling Pass, Glenview, was arrested around 1:45 a.m. on March 15 in his block of residence and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and leaving the scene of an accident following an investigation into an earlier traffic crash in the 1800 block of Waukegan Road.
Rosemary Rains, 44, of the 3200 block of South Paulina Street, Chicago, was arrested around 8:30 p.m. on March 22 by the Lake in the Hills Police Department on an active arrest warrant for failure to appear in Cook County before being taken to the Glenview Police Department to await a bond hearing.
