Armed Robbery Charges For Duo Arrested After Chase: Blotter

Incidents and arrests from the Glenview Police Department blotter for Sept. 12 to Sept. 18.

GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by Glenview police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Every person arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.

  • Food items worth $80 were reported stolen at 9:47 a.m. on Sept. 10 by an employee of a business in the 1300 block of Patriot Boulevard.
  • Several toiletry items were $55 were reported stolen at 12:39 p.m. on Sept. 12 by an employee of a business in the 2200 block of Willow Road after they were hidden under a purse.

PACKAGE THEFTS

  • A resident of the 200 block of Glendale Road reported around 10 p.m. on Sept. 10 that someone had stolen a package from their porch.
  • A resident in the 1400 block of Patriot Boulevard reported around 7 p.m. on Sept. 17 that someone had stolen a package worth $20 from their porch

HOME BURGLARY
A resident in the 3000 block of Lexington Lane reported at 3:52 p.m. on Sept. 11 that someone had pried open a door and gotten into the house for a loss of $200.

ART THEFT
A homeowner in the 800 block of Queens Lane reported at 6:19 p.m. on Sept. 11 that someone had stolen a decoration worth $150 from a driveway.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO STATE PROPERTY
An employee in the 1000 block of Zenith Drive reported at 7:46 a.m. on Sept. 13 that someone had done $500 in damage to a park bench.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
A customer at the business in the 2900 block of West Lake Avenue reported at 6:48 p.m. on Sept. 13 that someone had done $200 in damage by scratching their vehicle while it was parked outside.

RETAIL THEFT
Used books and DVDs worth $300 were reported stolen around 7:06 p.m. on Sept. 13 by an employee of a business in the 1900 block of Glenview Road.

THEFT OF SERVICES
A taxi driver in the 3700 block of Greenleaf Avenue reported at 7:26 a.m. on Sept. 15 that a customer had refused to pay a $85 fare.

TRESPASS
An employee at a business in the 1900 block of Glenview Road reported around 11 a.m. on Sept. 15 that someone refused to leave after causing a disturbance.

COUNTERFEIT ATTEMPT
An employee of a business in the 2000 block of Tower Drive reported at 1:30 p.m. on Sept. 15 that a customer had tried to make a purchase using a fake $100 bill.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
A resident in the 1700 block of East Ridgewood Lane reported around 2 p.m. on Sept. 16 that someone had spray painted a landscaping rock for unknown damage.

CAR BURGLARIES

  • A resident in the 2100 block of Cedar Court reported on the morning of Sept. 17 that someone had entered an unlocked car parked in a driveway and scattered the contents of its glove compartment onto the seats for a $100 loss.
  • A resident in the 400 block of Sheryl Lane reported around 2 p.m. on Sept. 17 that someone had gotten into an unlocked car in the driveway and scattered the contents of its glove compartment around the car for no reported loss.

BIKE THEFT
A resident in the 1000 block of Huber Lane reported around 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 17 that someone had stolen a locked bicycle worth $300.

JEWELRY THEFT
A resident in the 1100 block of Somerset Drive reported at 8:47 p.m. on Sept. 17 that someone had stolen a ring worth more than $3,000 from their bedroom dresser.


ARRESTS

A 58-year-old Evanston woman was arrested at 3:07 p.m. on Sept. 10 at the intersection of Harms and Ferndale roads and charged with driving with a suspended license and operating a vehicle with an expired registration.

A 36-year-old Des Plaines man was arrested at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 13 in the 500 block of Shermer Road and charged with driving with a suspended or revoked license after he was found to be driving a vehicle involved in a traffic crash.

Diane Hilbet, 67, of the 700 block of Long Road in Glenview was arrested at 1:41 a.m. on Sept. 14 in the 700 block of Glenview Road and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. She was also issued a citation for improper lane usage.

Darius Bell, 24, of the 7600 block of South Jeffrey Avenue in Chicago, and Jahare Garcia, 20, of the 4400 block of South LeClaire Avenue in Chicago, were arrested shortly after 1 p.m on Sept. 13 at North Avenue Beach in the 1600 block of Lake Shore Drive after a report of an armed robbery at a Glenview cellphone store and a subsequent pursuit. A bond hearing was held Sept. 15, although Glenview police declined to answer any questions about the incident and waited until Sept. 17 to disclose the men were arrested. Illinois State Police said two suspects remain at large in connection with the incident.

Norbert Jasiak, 63, of the 300 block of Skokie Court in Wilmette, was arrested at 6:06 p.m. on Sept. 15 in the 100 block of Waukegan Road and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and illegal transportation of alcohol by officers investigating how a car managed to leave the road.

Grisseldina Martinez, 40, of the 800 block of East Old Willow Road in Prospect Heights, was arrested at 3:21 p.m. on Sept. 16 and charged with retail theft as a result of an investigation into a theft from a store in the 100 block of Waukegan Road at an unspecified time.

A 64-year-old Wilmette woman was arrested around 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 16 and charged with driving with a suspended license. She was also issued citations for operating an uninsured motor vehicle and driving without lights when required.
