Boyfriend Accused In Teen's Accidental Shooting Death

17-year-old Glenbrook South student Angie Morris was accidentally shot and killed at a basement house party Saturday, authorities say.

DES PLAINES, IL — The boyfriend of a Glenview teen has been charged with involuntary manslaughter in connection with her fatal shooting, the Cook County sheriff announced Wednesday. Angelique "Angie" Morris was shot around 1 a.m. Saturday morning at a party in a basement apartment in the 9900 block of Linda Lane in unincorporated Des Plaines. She was taken to Lutheran General Hospital and pronounced dead at 4 a.m.

Detectives learned that Morris and the accused 17-year-old boy, who lived at the Linda Lane location, were in a room together, the sheriff's office said. The teen was handling a gun, and it fired the bullet that fatally injured Morris. The sheriff's office said the boy's name is not being released because he has been charged as a juvenile. Involuntary manslaughter is a class 3 felony. (Get Patch real-time email alerts for the latest news for Glenview — or your community. And iPhone users: Check out Patch's new app.)

Morris, who went by Angie and hoped to become a special education teacher, was headed into her senior year at Glenbrook South High School. An autopsy Sunday determined she died from a gunshot wound to the head and ruled her death a homicide. According to a GoFundMe page set up by her family, the bullet struck her eyebrow and passed through her brain.

Morris' death is the second killing of a teen with a gun in or around Des Plaines in two months believed to be accidental. In May, 15-year-old Maine West freshman Izaiah Franceschi died after being shot in the face by his 10-year-old sibling.
