Christmas 2017: What's Open, What's Closed In Glenview

Many local services and businesses will be closed over Christmas and New Year's.

GLENVIEW, IL — The Christmas holiday is fast approaching, and that means people will be out and about shopping, picking out presents and visiting family. While some people — including emergency personnel and employees at some retail stores — will be working on the holiday, many area businesses and offices will be closed.

Here's list of what's open and what's closed in Glenview for Christmas and New Year's 2017.

  • Post office: Closed
  • Federal offices: Closed
  • Banks: Closed
  • Gas stations: Open
  • Village Hall: Closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.
  • Refuse Collection: Pickup delayed by one day, with Friday collections pushed back to Saturday, for the weeks of Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.
  • Retail stores: Some will be closed, some will be open, but check the hours before you go.
  • Glenview Schools: Closed for winter break through Jan. 8.
  • Glenview Public Library: Closed on Dec. 24, 25, 31 and Jan. 1.
  • Glenview Park District Facilities:
    • East Wing, Glenview Senior Center: Closed Dec. 24-25, Dec. 31-Jan. 1 – Except for Dec. 31 New Year’s Eve party
    • The Grove: Buildings closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1, grounds and trails remain open.
    • Historic Wagner Farm: Closed Dec. 24-25, Dec. 31-Jan. 1
    • Ice Center: Closed Dec. 25, Public Session, 10 a.m - noon on Dec. 31, Family New Year’s Freeze Party, 5-7 p.m.
    • Park Center front desk: Closed Dec. 25, Jan. 1
    • Park Center Health and Fitness & indoor track: Closed Dec. 25.
    • Open Gym: Closed Dec. 24, 25, 31, Jan. 1
    • Glenview Park Golf Club: Pro shop closed Dec. 24 to Jan. 1 (Course closed for season.)
    • The Cafe: Closed Dec. 24 to Jan. 3
    • Glenview Prairie Club: Closed Dec. 25, Jan. 1
    • Splash Landings: Closed Dec 25, Jan. 1
    • Tennis Club: Closed Dec. 25, Jan. 1
    • Wiggles & Giggles: Closed Dec. 25-Jan. 1
