Church Honoring Floyd Tuesday With Prayer Vigil
George Floyd will be laid to rest in his hometown of Houston Tuesday and the Glenview Community Church will be celebrating his life.

GLENVIEW, IL —As the nation will mourn George Floyd Tuesday in his hometown of Houston, local residents will also have an opportunity to honor him. Floyd, who died May 25 in Minnesota, will be laid to rest at 11 a.m. in Texas. At the same time, the Glenview Community Church, 1000 Elm St., will hold a community prayer vigil on the front steps.
"This Prayer Vigil is our opportunity to come to God in these troubled days," a representative from Glenview Community Church told Patch. "It is not a demonstration or a protest. It is a time to pray George Floyd home to heaven, even as we pray for our nation and ourselves."
Organizers are asking attendees to "preserve the sacredness of this event by coming in humility" and not bringing sings. They're also asking all in attendance wear masks and practice social distancing.
