Driver Claims 'Gun' Was Middle Finger: Glenview Police Blotter
A driver alleges a person they were having a traffic dispute with pointed a firearm toward them.

GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department (unless otherwise noted) and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. Bessie Ortega, 34, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, is accused of retail theft, and was arrested at 6 p.m. Sept. 11, following the investigation of an incident which occurred on July 17 in the 2200 block of Willow Road. She was held for a bond hearing and multiple arrest warrants from outside jurisdictions. Earlier in the day, at 2:11 p.m., Ortega was arrested in connection with a different retail theft incident in the 2200 block of Willow Road. A court date of Oct. 4 was assigned.

- Emilia Hawkinson, 42, of the 5800 block of N. Oriole Avenue, Chicago, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, improper lane usage, and was arrested at 1:57 p.m. Sept. 9, after a traffic stop in the 9400 block of Waukegan Road, Morton Grove. She was released on bond with a court date set for Oct. 22.
- Jinola Zandanga, 24, of the 9700 block of Sumac Road, Des Plaines, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration level of .08 or more, improper parking on a roadway, and was arrested at 5:24 a.m. Sept. 10, after a traffic stop in the 3200 block of Central Road. He was released on bond with a court date set for Oct. 21.
BATTERY
Christopher Ray, 27, of the 700 block of W. Liberty Road, Wheaton, is accused of battery, obstructing, assault, and was arrested at 12:23 a.m. Sept. 10, after an incident in the 1700 block of Greenwood Road. He was released on bond with a court date set for Oct. 21.
A resident in the 300 block of Harlem Avenue reported someone entered two unlocked vehicles parked in their driveway between Sept. 2 and Sept. 6. Nothing was missing from the vehicles.
FORGERY
- A resident in the 0-100 block of Park Lane called police at 12:15 p.m. Sept. 6, to report personal checks intercepted in the U.S. mail and cashed in different names and dollar amounts.
- An employee of a business in the 3700 block of Willow Road reported on Sept. 6 that in July, three men entered the store and used fraudulent cash to purchase Visa gift cards and other merchandise.
- A resident in the 1100 block of Raleigh Road called police at 3:40 p.m. Sept. 6, to report a personal check was intercepted in the U.S. mail and cashed in a different name.
TRESPASSING
An employee of a business in the 1900 block of Waukegan Road reported at 4:21 p.m. Sept. 6, an angry customer was in the store. Officers gave the customer a trespass notice to the business.
RETAIL THEFT
An employee of a business in the 600 block of Milwaukee Avenue called police at 4:01 p.m. Sept. 6, to report a man entered the store, grabbed items for sale and left the store without paying.
ASSAULT
- A Des Plaines resident reported at 6:57 p.m. Sept. 7, getting into a motorist dispute around Greenwood Road and Springdale Avenue. During the dispute, one driver alleged the driver of the other involved vehicle pointed a firearm toward them. Officers located and spoke with the second driver, who admitted to being involved in the motorist dispute, but said he lifted his middle finger toward the other driver, not a firearm.
- A Highland Park resident called police at 10:32 a.m. Sept. 8, to report being threatened by an employee of a business in the 2800 block of Patriot Boulevard.
CRIMINAL TRESPASS TO PROPERTY
An employee of a business in the 1600 block of Milwaukee Avenue called police to report a picnic table from an interior playground was moved over a fence, into a communal parking lot and damaged at 9:20 p.m. Sept. 7.
WARRANT
A McHenry resident was taken into custody for a valid outstanding warrant out of McHenry County while police were on the scene of a criminal damage to property investigation at 11:08 p.m. Sept. 8, in the 2700 block of Patriot Boulevard. They were taken to the McHenry County Corrections facility and turned over to them.
BURGLARY TO VEHICLE
A Gurnee resident reported that during the overnight hours of Sept. 9, someone stole the catalytic converter from their vehicle while it was parked in the parking lot of a business in the 4500 block of West Lake Avenue.
THEFT
- A Skokie resident called police to report that between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Sept. 4, someone stole medication from a bag while at a business in the 1400 block of Milwaukee Avenue.
- A Chicago resident reported that on Aug. 31, a cleaning service they hired to clean their prior residence, in the 1800 block of Tower Drive, stole a box containing eight watches.
SUSPENDED REGISTRATION
A Northfield resident was cited at 7:10 p.m. Sept. 9, for driving a vehicle with a suspended registration after a traffic stop on Willow Road at Westleigh Drive. They were released on bond with a court date Oct. 4 assigned.
SPEEDING
A Norridge resident was cited for speeding 26+ mph over the speed limit at 11 p.m. Sept. 9, after a traffic stop on Milwaukee Avenue at Zenith Drive. They were released on bond with a court date set for Oct. 4.
RECKLESS DRIVING
Officers saw two vehicles driving north in the 1900 block of Waukegan Road at 1:22 a.m. Sept. 13, appearing to race one another. Officers located and cited one driver, a Northbrook resident, for speeding and the other driver, a Northfield resident, for reckless driving. They were both released on bond.
